A Just World for Girls and Young Women
The Let Girls Learn Initiative (LGLI) is a feminist, community-centred organisation in Kenya. We work with communities and volunteers to create safe, supportive ecosystems where every girl can learn, lead, and thrive.
WHO WE ARE
About Let Girls Learn Initiative
Let Girls Learn Initiative (LGLI) is a feminist, community-centred organisation advancing the rights, safety, and leadership of girls and young women in Kenya. We work directly with families, caregivers, schools, health providers, and local governments to ensure girls grow up in environments that protect their rights, dignity, and futures.
Our Vision
A Just World for Girls and Young Women.
Our Mission
To empower girls and young women to achieve their full potential through access to education, rights, and opportunity.
Our Approach
We centre the voices, experiences, and leadership of girls and young women in driving long-lasting social change.
WHAT WE DO
Core Pillars of Let Girls Learn Initiative
LGLI partners with communities, parents, caregivers, health service providers, and government institutions to build a supportive ecosystem for girls and young women. Our work is guided by three core strategies:
Girl-Led Activism & Leadership
We nurture girl leaders through school clubs, mentorship, and community organizing spaces where their voices drive real change.
SRHR & Bodily Autonomy
We equip girls and caregivers with accurate, accessible sexual and reproductive health information, reaching rural and underserved communities.
Education Access & Retention
We support girls’ continued learning by addressing the everyday barriers—from poverty to stigma—that keep them out of school.
Climate Justice & Resilience
We center the realities of girls living on the frontlines of climate change and build community-driven solutions that protect their futures.
How Let Girls Learn Initiative Works
Our work is grounded in feminist organizing, community collaboration, and evidence-driven advocacy
Girls’ lived experiences guide program design, implementation, and learning.
We use community-generated data and national research to influence systems and policy.
We collaborate with caregivers, teachers, health workers, local leaders, and national actors to build strong, sustainable support networks.
WHY CLIMATE JUSTICE MATTERS
Climate Justice for Girls
Girls face disproportionate climate risks, from food insecurity to displacement, yet their leadership and knowledge remain underused. We work with communities to build resilience, protect livelihoods, and centre girls in local climate solutions.
